Some thoughts on building models of all types and sizes

Some thoughts on building models of all types and sizes

Welcome. If you have not visited Minature Buildings before can I suggest you begin with my Aims and Scope article or at the Home Page. If you have visited before - welcome back. I hope this article is of interest to you.

There, then gone

An old article from Model Rail

Every month there are magazines published. About model railways, about dolls houses, about military modelling. They're the ones I'm aware of. There are surely still more specialist magazines or journals on architecture, on souvenirs and giftware, on film and other subjects which don't make it onto the high street newsagent And this happens in each country. Most of them feature at least one article on the modelling of buildings.

And then they're gone. Some of you, like me, will keep piles of back numbers but they are not really accesible. Some of mine stayed packed away in boxes in a storage unit for years. Goodness knows why I do it.

Trying to build a worthwhile archive of these articles is way way beyond me. It would be a huge task and probably infringe the copyrights of some big publishing houses whose interest is monetising interesting and helpful information. But, as I threw away (or gave away or sold) my stash of old UK mags, and a few Dutch ones, I have tried to preserve some of the more interesting articles or extract bits from them. Hopefully a small enough piece of preservation not to upset any commercial interests.

Here is the first one. A 4mm project from way back called 'The Forth Hotel'.

As always, please e-mail Miniature Buildings if you have something to add. Comments, criticisms, extra thoughts, pictures, or even complete articles for inclusion in the Miniature Buildings site are all welcome. Or if you would like to be added to my mailing list to hear when a new article is published.
